Conversation Analytics and Success Metrics
Every call is a data point. But saying "we collect data" is not enough on its own. You have to know which metrics genuinely reflect the business outcome. The exact set changes with the use case, though a mature Voice AI Agent operation usually watches this family of metrics:
Reach and connection metrics:
- Answer rateWhat percentage of numbers called were answered?
- Right party contact rateWhat percentage of answered calls actually reached the intended person?
Outcome metrics:
- Task completion rateWhat percentage of calls finished with a full result, without falling to a person?
- Commitment or action rateIn collections for example, in what percentage of calls was a commitment obtained for the next step?
- Commitment kept rateWhat percentage of those commitments were actually honoured?
Operational efficiency metrics:
- Average handling timeDoes the outcome improve as calls get shorter, or as they get longer? The two do not always move in the same direction.
- FTE savingHow many full time human agents' workload does the AI Agent cover?
- Cost per call or transactionHow does the cost of a call handled by the AI Agent compare with the human cost?
The attribution question: if the outcome does not happen during the call but a few days later on a different channel, at a branch, in the mobile app or by transfer, how do you attribute it to the AI Agent? A sound measurement approach defines a window, for instance one, three and seven days after the call, and counts results inside that window as the AI Agent's effect.
The comparison method: the most reliable way to show real impact is to split customers of a similar risk and profile into two groups, one called by the AI Agent and a control group either called by a person or not called at all, then compare the results. That answers "what would have happened without the AI Agent call" with data rather than anecdote.
CBOT's session log and evaluation score layer lets these metrics be tracked as aggregate analysis rather than by listening to calls one at a time.
